Wells is such a great villain, I'm a little sad he's shown his hand already. ![]() "There will be a reckoning," he tells unconscious Barry Allen, though we're not sure what for still. Even then there's a weird fondness apparent in Thawne's words, even as he confesses to hating the man Barry would become. There's a parallel moment at the end of the episode, when Wells is monologuing to a comatose Barry in a flashback, where he confesses to the strangeness of having to create the Flash in order to destroy him and return home. That statement connects with audiences precisely because of how well Cavanagh pulls off the role, and how well that role is written. In fact, there's a moment in "The Trap" where Barry confesses to Joe that even though he knows Wells killed his mom, he still sometimes finds himself liking Wells. ![]() Tom Cavanagh is uncanny, a perfect fit for the ominous yet likable villain. Let me stop for a moment here to heap praise on all things Harrison Wells.
